RISE Private Edition: The Gates Nobody Tells You About
An architectural reality check on custom extraction paths, network trust boundaries, and SAP service responsibility in RISE Private Edition.
Conceptual pattern
Public figureThe arrow is gated
A managed RISE landscape approves filesystem paths, egress, host agents, and batch capacity before data moves.
Credentials stay apart
The ingestion boundary does not share SAP credentials with the Azure tenant.
ODP-RFC does not survive
When Note 3255746 is enforced, a design that still depends on ODP-RFC replication stops. The replacement is an outbound, allowlisted extract.

System integrators often draw cloud migration as if the data path were an open line into Azure Data Lake. A managed RISE Private Edition landscape is gated. Custom code, filesystem paths, network egress, host agents, and batch capacity each need an approval that the pretty arrow does not show.
The trust boundary
The figure above is a public pattern, not an implementation blueprint. The ingestion boundary does not share SAP credentials with the Azure tenant, and the SAP work process does not wait on the lake. When SAP enforces Note 3255746, any design that still depends on ODP-RFC replication calls stops. The replacement is an outbound, allowlisted extract. The buffer sizes, retry schedules, and function-module names that make that extract safe are delivered under an engagement, not on this page.
Editable diagram source is not published on this page. The request above is an evaluation copy for a named company. Implementation parameters stay in the contracted blueprint.
